Eric Carle was born in New York in 1929. His wife's name was Barbara Carle, and they have a son and a daughter. Unfortunately, Barbara (called "Bobbie" by those close to her) passed away in September of this year. Currently, Carle divides his time between the Florida Keys and California. Eric Carle's first job was in New York as a graphic designer for the New York Times. Carle's first book was Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you See? which he published through a partnership with Bill Martin, Jr. Some of his most well known books include, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, 1,2,3, to the Zoo, and the Very Quiet Cricket.
